Mike’s blog: Wednesday 27th September. Our last day in Mozambique. We travelled across Milange to see the site of Pastor Joshua Misomali's house (top photo). This had been destroyed in Cyclone Freddy, but the remnant was being used as a temporary church. On a very breezy morning we held a church service focussing on Psalm 127: 1 "Unless the Lord builds the house, the labourers toil in vain". Then after saying goodbye to Pastor Misomali (who was staying temporarily with an elder and his family) we headed back through the border into Malawi, the warm heart of Africa and were soon back in Blantyre. Joshua is on the far left of the bottom photo that shows the elder and his family and various others! We are very thankful to God for travelling mercies and for such an encouraging time meeting ZEC churches all across the north east of Mozambique. ... See MoreSee Less

Mike’s blog: Tuesday 26th September. A more leisurely start this morning saw us driving back towards Mecanhelas to visit Matache ZEC Prayer House. We had driven along the road last night in the dark so hadn't seen the magnificent but equally dreadful scenery. Mount Mulanje towers above the River Malosa (see photo). Huge swathes of rocks and sands marked where fields or even villages had been. Cyclone Freddy has created so much devastation and loss. At the service at Matache (shown in the photo) we thought about the Tower of Siloam. Jesus was asked whether those killed had been worse sinners than others. Instead, Jesus encouraged those hearing to repent or they too would face judgement. The message today is the same. We can't explain why some have suffered so badly, but let's make the choice to repent and turn to Christ. Afterwards we journeyed south to Chitsulo ZEC. Sadly the pastor had left after less than a year as a churchplanter. We encouraged the scattered and discouraged remnant to remain faithful. A large group from the houses around came and joined us and responded in faith to the gospel message. Our prayer is that this church becomes a strong and vibrant body of Christ in the future. ...
