zambesi mission (zm) exists to share the good news about Jesus and to enable and equip disciple-making churches in Malawi and northern Mozambique. zm works through partnership with national evangelical churches and organisations in Malawi and northern Mozambique. zm encourages, equips and supports our African partners as they do the work of the church: evangelism, discipleship, church planting, community care and development. They are the ones who make disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey everything that Jesus commanded us (Matthew 28: 19-20).
In zm we also believe that God has given an important role in ministering to and encouraging individuals and supporting churches in the UK. As equally important parts of the body of Christ, we would argue that we need the churches in Malawi and Mozambique just as much as they need us. Hearing news from our brothers and sisters in Christ in Africa can bring great encouragement to churches in our country.

The biblical concept of “a partnership in the gospel” is central to the way that zm operates. zm works with five different partners in Malawi and Mozambique. We seek to engage in mutual inter-dependent relationships with our African partners, in a way that avoids inequity and unhealthy dependency. Two of zm’s partners in Malawi and Mozambique are national church denominations:
- The Zambezi Evangelical Church (ZEC) – Malawi and Mozambique
- The River of Life Evangelical Church
zm also partners with the Evangelical Bible College of Malawi (EBCoM) to train pastors and evangelists. We also focus on leadership training through our partnership with J-Life Ministries – Malawi; and on reaching Malawi’s children with the gospel, through our support for partner Children for Christ Ministry (CFCM) .

Teaching men and women to correctly handle the word of God at the Evangelical Bible College of Malawi is a vital part of zm’s ministry
Over the next few months we will be seeking the Lord’s direction as we review the mission’s priorities and plans. As we do this, you can help us in at least two ways ~
- We would greatly appreciate your prayers that we would be able to discern God’s will for zambesi mission’s future direction and priorities.
- if you feel that you have an insight into the way zm works, or would like to give us feedback on our priorities please do contact us on m.beresford@zambesimission.org.
We would be delighted to hear from you.
