How many Bibles are there in your Church ... or your home?
Most UK Churches have a good number - not all of them used! And there are often dusty stacks of older versions in one of the cupboards. At home there are probably several Bibles on our shelves together with books which help us to understand and benefit from them. That's not the case in most of Africa!

Hope and Affliction in Mozambique
During his recent visit to Malawi, Mike Beresford , zm's Director, was able to travel to eastern Mozambique accompanied by Ralph Gunn, zm's Honorary Representative for Scotland, and Rose Chirwa , zm's Malawian Projects Officer. They travelled with the leaders of the Zambezi Evangelical Church in Mozambique - General Secretary  Chaleca Dimba and Chairman Roberto Duwe - and found that the situation facing the church in that country is sometimes bleak from a human perspective.

Planting Churches in Malawi
zm supports 17 Churchplanting pastors from the Zambezi Evangelical Church (ZEC) in Malawi. During our Mission Director Mike Beresford's recent visit to Malawi he travelled to meet up with a group of Churchplanters working around the small rural town of Mchinji, most serving in very remote areas.

Eager and ready to go!
Friday 18th July was a special day for many of the students of the Evangelical Bible College of Malawi. After three years of study, for 52 students it was Graduation Day! ZM is privileged to sponsor 35 of these men and women through the generosity of God's people in the UK and Australia.

50 years ~ and celebrating!
The Evangelical Bible College of Malawi was founded as the Likabula Bible Institute in 1964 and over 500 men and women have received theological training in the 50 years since. By far the majority have gone out to pastor evangelical Churches in Malawi and Mozambique. Following our brief look last month at this years Graduation Day we now include the most recent edition of EBCoM's newsletter The EBCoM Educator.

Simon Chikwana , ZM's Director in Malawi reflects on this year's 'Bookset' Conferences. These annual conferences which embrace pastors and other Church leaders together with some of their wives, get their title from the small set of devotional and study books the participants receive at the end of four days of teaching, prayer, discussion, fellowship and food.

zm is delighted to be appointing Myles and Ruth MacBean as Church Development Partners in Malawi. Myles and Ruth were commissioned on Saturday 11th October by their sending church partnership of Mickfield Evangelical Church and Great Blakenham Baptist Church in Suffolk.

Good tidings of great joy which will be to all people for there is born to You this day a Saviour Who is Christ the Lord.
Was this a mistake.announcing such amazing and long awaited news to humble shepherds in the fields outside Bethlehem? Surely the angels were meant to go first to the Palace and tell the King and the politicians. Or to the Temple to inform the priests and other religious leaders?
