Rev Willard Muwalo, deputy General Secretary of the Zambesi Evangelical Churches in Malawi updates us on some urgent prayer needs

Flood Disaster

Malawi was hard hit by floods earlier this year and 15 districts were heavily affected. Lives were lost, gardens were

swept, livestock were drowned many people were displaced. They are still living in camps as I write; the farm yield will be poor in most areas. This means that hunger will strike as people will not harvest enough food for themselves.

We also have churches brought down in both Malawi and Mozambique which raises the need for Iron sheets to repair such churches as the members have no worshipping shelters.

Grateful thanks

On behalf of Zambezi Evangelical Church I thank you our partners for your response to alleviate this suffering. The magnitude of the damages is so huge we still want to continue asking for your material and prayer support

Posting of newly trained Pastors

We are thankful to God for allowing us to train church ministers but we encountered a considerable problem when we were unable to continue with ZACOM (Zambesi College of Ministry) and were stranded with the remaining students unable to complete their training.

We thank God for the Zambezi Mission & To All Nations for their willingness to sponsor these students enabling them to conclude their education at the Evangelical Bible College of Malawi. All the students have now graduated and most have been assigned to churches.

Due to financial challenges we can only deploy these men as funds are available, and also if the receiving congregation is able to support the pastor. We still have a need of sponsorships to train pastors for the other needy places which are very poor and in rural areas.

For Praise and Prayer

1. ZEC thanks God for all its operations, and His protection and provision in times of need.

2. The transfer of designate pastors is still a challenge because of lack of funds for fuel or bus fares; as a result they are easily frustrated and discouraged. May God intervene.

3 . Pray for ZEC leadership to follow Gods' leading in all its endeavours

4. The need of a Synod vehicle; an ambulance for Mitsidi Health Centre and a Synod office block

5. Major Evangelistic and Youth Outreach

6. Our ZEC Synod meetings planned in August with dates to be set. May God guide us in preparations.

7. Ruth & Myles Macbean , the new zm workers, have a lot of work. We thank God they have settled well.

8. Peace and good governance in Malawi & Mozambique.

9. We still need more provision to assist the flood victims especially as they think of resettling.

10. Please also pray that Malawi would have some more rain. The rainy season in the Central region has been just two months long instead of the three months needed. There were short showers in March and then the rains mostly disappeared. Much of the maize is still immature and beginning to wilt; the harvest looks likely to be much reduced.

We bless the Lord for our partnership in the Gospel.
