Reaching the Children ~ and their Teachers
The work of Children For Christ Ministries in Malawi

Whether it is outside under the shade of a leafy tree, or crammed inside a classroom, there is no doubting the enthusiasm for, and openness to, Bible teaching of the children of Malawi. Time and time again when the CFCM workers approach a head master for permission to start a new Bible Club in a school the doors are opened wide, and literally hundreds of children at a time hear a very clear Gospel message, learn Bible verses and join together to in loud praise to God!

Could you and your Church organise something like this?
A team from two UK partnered churches in Suffolk visited Malawi a couple of months ago. Rather than build classrooms or churches, their initial plan was to simply visit and encourage their friends Myles and Ruth MacBean, who are zm's church development partners, and are also members of their two churches. Here is their report describing some of the highlights from their visit.

They certainly do things differently in Malawi !
What takes five hours and involves three bicycles covered in foliage; getting dressed up; a dancing procession and lots of lavish gifts? A night out in downtown Blantyre? . No. A celebrity "Get-Me-Out-Of-Here" show on Malawian network TV? . No.
The induction of a new Pastor in the Zambesi Evangelical Church? ... Yes.

If you give a man (or a church, perhaps?) a pig.
zambesi mission (zm) aims to nurture "partnerships in the gospel" between Christians and churches in the UK and their counterparts in Malawi and northern Mozambique. One of our objectives is to help the church there to be self-sustaining; to avoid situations where they become dependent on outside support.

Word for Word
zambesi mission's Word for Word scheme was launched in July 2015, prompted by concern about the widespread lack of access to Scripture in our partner's churches. Field Director Simon Chikwana discovered that, of the 35 believers who were being baptised at Namulu Zambezi Evangelical Church, not one had their own Bible. In countries like the UK we have such free access to Scripture - on our computers, on our phones, in our bookshops. We take it for granted and very few Christians in the UK struggle to get a Bible so that they can read God's word. But in Malawi and Mozambique there are two issues. Read in full

Preach the season and out of season
Myles and Ruth MacBean (zambesi mission's Church Development Partners) embarked on a five-week tour of the more remote north of Malawi between 3rd May and 6th June 2016. During this period they travelled 3,821km from their base in Blantyre! Their journey took them to five different centres in the north - Mzimba, Mzuzu, Rumphi, Karonga and Dwangwa. Read in full

Bookset Conferences 2016
Paul wrote these words to encourage Timothy to guard the truth of the gospel - the good news about salvation through faith alone in Jesus Christ. Paul wanted to stress the importance of sound doctrine. In the church in Paul and Timothy's time, groups of false teachers were leading believers astray. Read in full

The Christmas Gift Scheme

Over recent years many people in Malawi and northern Mozambique have benefited from the zm Gift Scheme and our hope is that this year there will be others receiving a Bible, a goat, a beehive or a roof for their Church through the generosity of zm friends here in the UK and elsewhere.  Read in full
